On entering the Old Inn through the front porch you reach a the large sitting room (pictured above) with a comfy sofa and armchairs around an open log fire (free firewood supplied). The main sitting room has a table that seats 8 people for meals in front of the fire.
Next door is a more formal sitting room with two sofas and a large wood burning stove, a book case with a wide selection of novels and some board games. The walls are decorated with local admiralty charts on the walls. Both sitting rooms have views over the Kylerhea narrows towards Glenelg on the mainland. A wide variety of shipping passes through these narrows and you may be surprised to see a reproduction viking long boat, a tall ship, a basking shark or a submarine cruising on the surface.
Beyond the sitting room is the kitchen, a pine-panelled room with a table providing seating for 8 people. The kitchen has an electric hob, an integrated cooker, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer and a dishwasher. There is a large selection of crockery, pots and pans and cooking utensils. The kitchen also contains the washing machine and tumble dryer. A small cloakroom and WC is attached to the main sitting room.
Upstairs there is a double bedroom, a twin room and two single bedrooms which can sleep six people in total. Three of these rooms have views over the sea. The bathroom has a large bath but no shower and sometimes the water can be peaty as it is fed from a stream from the local mountains.
Above the kitchen are the annex bedrooms, which consist of a double bedroom and a dormitory with five beds. There is also a bathroom and again there is a bath rather than a shower. The main house can be rented on its own or with the annex for larger groups or family parties.
Please note that the Old Inn, although warm, clean and comfortable is not immaculate like a purpose built holiday home, rather it is a large family home that has been well loved and used and this condition is reflected in the reduced price for such a large house. In keeping with the peace and tranquility of Kylerhea there is no television, no satellite TV, no DVD player and no mobile phone reception or broadband access in the Inn.
